November 26th
After a nice little lie in, we decide to make the most of the facilities and spend all day chilling at the pool. I manage to get a bit sunburnt.
November 27th
Today, to mix things up a bit we chilled at the beach! The water over here isnt quite as clear as the East Coast Islands, but its still amazing. We were suppposed to be booking accommodation for Koh Phangan today for the full moon party, but we've left it too late and all the accommodation in Haad Rin is either fully booked up, or crazily expensive. We decide to stay on Koh Samui and get the speed boat over to Koh Phangan on the evening of the fmp and get it back in the early hours of the morning. That will mean we get to stay in one place for a good few nights, which is nice as we dont have to pack up and move on after 2/3 nights in one place.

We had booked a tour of Koh Samui by minibus today, so we were down in reception for 9am. The bus picked us up and we set off for the first stop which was Wat Phra Yai. This is Samui's oldest temple built over 100 years ago. Theres a newer temple and two big statues built on the water which were quite impressive. The water was filled with huge catfish which some people were feeding. After about 30-40 minutes of looking around we were back on the bus to go see the big buddha. This is a huge buddha which was built on a little island at the top of a hill. From the top you get an awesome view out over the ocean towards Koh Phangan. From here we went to Lamai beach via the viewpoint. From the viewpoint, you get an incredible view of Chaweng beach (where we are staying). At the Lamai area of the island, we were taken to see whats called Hin Ta and Hin Yai, or also known as Grandmother and Grandfather rock. I won't go into too much detail on what these rocks look like, instead, you can see for yourself here:

Needless to say we both thought it was highly amusing.
After the funny rock formations it was off to see some monkeys. On Samui they used to train monkeys to climb the trees and pull down the coconuts, so we got a quick demonstration of this. The monkeys didnt look too pleased to be chained up, so it was a little bit sad.
Next stop was the Na-Muang waterfall. After about a 20 minute trek up the dirtroads and jungle path, we eventually got to the waterfall. It was the biggest waterfall on Samui and was really cool. Unfortunately we couldnt spend too long at the waterfall as we were only stopping for an hour. It would have been cool if we had longer there to chill out, but by the time we got to the top and took some photos, it was time to start making our way down again!
Next we went for lunch in Nathon Town. The restaraunt was right out on the water's edge and over looked the pier we came in on. After a quick bite to eat we went for an explore of Nathon Town centre before the bus took us back to our hotel. It was all abit crammed into one day, but it was definately worthwhile seeing all the sights.
That night it was Wales vs Australia. We'd already scouted a place out that was going to be showing it (another Irish bar), so we headed over there about 10 o clock and got the drinks in. Anyway, we lost. A quick motorbike taxi ride later and we were back at the hotel for sleep time.

As we didnt get in till about 2:30 the night before, we woke up quite late. After a few hours of lounging by the pool we decided to go explore Laem Dim market. To be honest, it was a bit crap, not much there at all, so we went for dinner back on the main street. After a quick wander about we headed back to the hotel for a quiet night.

So far we've spent 4 hours each updating this bloody blog......hoping to go to the beach soon though! Meeting our friends Lynne and Elaine from the roam China trip later, so that will be cool. We are going to the full moon party with them too.

...............Lynne and Elaine missed the last boat out to the island and end up having to stay in Surat Thani, so after chilling at the pool a bit longer, me and Laura head into town for some food, and find a place called the 3 monkeys which has 50% off - we know what you're thinking, scabby travelers!

Alec No, don't regret the blog, it's great! It's currently the number one source on the web for rocks that look like c*** .
