The land of Macaroni and Berlusconi is way behind us now. We got the most horrible pizza ever in Como, we were threathened with polizia by an 'alloggio' receptionist for asking a valid and reasonable question over some 2 euro. We also made a restaurant owner cry like a wee baby suckling over not wanting to sit in his 'fresh' table in the sunny spot at +30C heat. That was so ridiculous. We couldn't afford to buy a Ferrari. That's what a stall keeper told us. Venezia and most of its grumpy locals with no habits are now on our hate list and you may sink for all we care grrr! We found out that Verona city 'planning' is probably on the UNESCO world heritage list for lacking common sense, but we loved the place and found our way everywhere even if it took time on occasion. Swiss people speak Italian but as the lady in the shop said sternly "We are not Italy." You heard the lady. Havoc and confusion was spread along the road and everybody is now too scared to come north.
PS: It's okay to bring many lovers to your room in Italy. A nice old lady in one of our accomodations encouraged us to do it and said: "It okay. It Italia." We didn't take the old lady in our rooms, though... but she was nice.
