We reluctantly said our goodbyes to Positano, it is a very hard place to say goodbye to. We told Giovanni that we will definitely be back. He toured us through a connecting property so if we return with friends we can rent both.
The drive back was easier on my nerves because I was on the mountain side, making me feel less like I was dangling from the road, but unfortunately all the turns made Mariah carsick.
We planned on eating lunch in Sorrento before leaving the Amalfi coast. As we got into the busy city Tim was getting frustrated because all traffic rules seemed to only be suggestions. People, cars and bikes were completely unpredictable and we were having trouble finding a parking garage. We finally found one just in time because Tim was losing his mind and Mariah needed out of the car.
We ordered take out sandwiches that were made in the most delicious pizza type pitta bread. We could tell that it was freshly made and well worth the crazy drive. We visited with a couple from Stratford-upon-Avon, U.K who were enjoying their trip to Italy as well. Brennin and Tim also met a local wearing an Oilers jersey. He told them that he drives a tour bus and received the jersey as a gift. I'm sure Tim and Brennin's excitement conveyed how special his gift was lol
Our drive to the Florence area was nice. I managed to get a lot of blogging done.
When we arrived in our campground we noticed a big market with a variety of vendors. There were also authentic restaurants in lovely historic buildings, a wine cellar, a large fountain and of course a gelato shop.
We settled in, and made supper while the girls went for a walk, and the boys went for a swim.
After supper we went out to wander through the market. One vendor had their honeybees with them to view. We could see the queen, she was marked with a large dot. They told us all about their bees, and how they control which types of flowers certain colonies are given access to - resulting in different flavored honeys. We bought a few different jars of honey - so delicious.
The kids watched a 4-D movie in a special animation box. For 2 euro a show we could choose different 4-D experiences. Tim and I watched a funny Dracula one. Belia didn't like her movie, there happened to be a spider in it. On the outside of the box there is a t.v that shows the people inside so you can watch their reaction to the 4-D effects. Mariah noticed Belia clinging to Brennin, and asked the lady running the show to stop it and let Belia out, it took the lady a while but she eventually let her out.
We went for a gelato and listened to a live band singing Beatles music.
We didn't stay up late because we had plans to be in Florence early the next morning.
