You can't be in the home of Boeing without doing the factory tour. Plan was set - TB and Chels not interested and we dropped the at Everett Mall for exploration.
EB and I arrived and had a good look around the Future of Flight centre. Some good info here about all things Boeing, developments and new 787 craft. Tour was good although felt rushed. Our guide constantly checking the watch and hurrying us along. Got to see 2 major production locations - 737, 747 and 787. With a major order book and a starting price of about 220 mill without engines, the operation is vast. Just seeing the worlds largest building by volume, covering some 98 acres apparently amazing. Boeing lease over 1000acres of space here.
Unfortunately we are not blessed with the best day, rain is back for next 5-6 days. Emma and I braved a quick view from the upstairs viewing area and counted probably 50 planes being finished on the ground. Talking to a Boeing guy he mentioned they have 865 orders for the 787. A 1 year delivery time from placement of order... Big numbers all round.
Wandered back to the mall to search out the other half of the family. Mall had been completed with to spare - TB not sure what all the fuss is about.
We located Target on the way back to town so dropped in. Good store and found couple of things - including more shoes CB!
Crawled our way in bumper traffic last 8 miles or so. The concrete roads seem to spray up a lot from wet roads - visibility like coating your glasses in Vaseline and going thru a car wash!
Offloaded car @ hotel with CB and I filling with gas and returning the silver streak.
Price was great = Bonus!!
Met EB and TB walking back from Walgreens and back to room. Unpacked and started thinking about requirements tomorrow. Time to pack up suitcases etc.
Seattle has been grey and probably most typical. Weather has stopped us with a couple of things but great to check out the area again.
Early start tomorrow to catch train north --> Vancouver.
Great day.
Emma for spending time with me - enjoyed on our own for a bit.
