Title: Day 4 of Megayacht Deck Course
The day got off kind of slow with more classroom. Our instructor, Lou, was careful to cover everything that was going to be on the final exam. Finally, at about 10am, we left the IYT building and walked a couple of blocks to one of the canals where the school keeps their RIB. We inventoried the supplies and did the proper engine checks and I got to be first on the helm as we all practiced manuvering the boat around in the narrow channel. Then we took the boat out through the Port Everglades entrance and did some open water man overboard drills.
By this time it was past noon so it was time to head back into port but Lou directed us south to a place where half of us could eat while the other half practiced docking procedures. Lou picked two of the worst scenarios possible based on the wind and current and I was not happy with my performance! But as everyone else got their turn, I guess I didn't fair so bad. When we all had accomplished those procedures to Lou's satisfaction, we headed back to the school dock and went back to the classroom to take our written test. Everyone passed.
