This will be pretty short and sweet as today was mostly a.....travelling day!
It was a 9 o'clock meet in reception to catch the public bus to Lampang. After half an hour the bus turned up and we eagerly went to board. Instantly you could see it was pretty full and I started to wonder if we would fit on. Our bags were fully loaded, but we were not....the bus had been overbooked and our reserved seats were all occupied!
Bond instantly was on the case and the bus and all it's passengers had to wait 15mins whilst conversations were had between the driver, the main depot and Bond. The previous night we had all taken bets as to when we thought we would arrive at Lampang...my optimistic 2:30 suggestions was looking more and more like a losing bet.
After many filthy looks from the passengers out bags then came off the bus as we were told we had to wait for the next one at 11, so it was back to the hotel lobby to make use of the wifi and catch up on the blog.
Finally at 11:30 we were off. Most of the journey was a blur as I was in and out of sleep. During a 10minute break I had been joking about slipping over on the rain again and lo and behold I did! This time a not so graceful slide across the ground before managing to steady myself... I then decided no more jokes about falling!
We arrived at the hotel just gone 3:30 and found out there was no free wifi....noooooo!!
Myself, Ian and Jackie decided to head out and visit a nearby temple in order to salvage some of the day. The journey in the taxi took us past paddy fields, rivers and street houses.
We arrived at the temple and spent half an hour walking around. It was very peaceful and decorated beautifully, it was also interesting to see local people using it to pray and I almost felt like I was intruding despite receiving a warm welcome there.
It was then back to the hotel for dinner and an early night as the following day was elephant time!!
