Yesterday was a travel day. We flew to Lisbon and took a train north to Porto. We did our best to settle in and stay awake until 9.We slept for about 12 hours and awoke on Portugal time. Porto is a beautiful earthy city. Although it is the send largest city, we did not encounter any glitz or glam. We walked on streets that were paved before the Romans came. I tried sardine sandwich. We watched an old man sit on a corner stoop and waive cars on around a bend too narrow for 2 cars. What happens when he is busy? Cars toot their horn without slowing down. It's more like "Hi, we are about to crash" . We climbed and clambered up and down frightening stairs. All while trying to follow a sadistic map that behaves like the staircases at Hogwarts. We ended the day in Riberia and I had a fabulous traditional cod dinner with pickled veggies...amazing. You will have to ask Lisa about her swordfish yourself. I think she enjoyed it slightly more than my sardine sandwich.

Terri Lanigan This sounds much different than Cape Cod. You will sleep well! It's terrific that you 2 are sampling the local cuisine - or is it your only choice? No matter. Love you to you both.
