It rained all last night and I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It is going to be one of those days. It will most likely rain all day.....so the forecast says. Begrudgingly, I got out of bed and prepped for the day.
I had some breakfast at the hostel and made may way into the pouring rain without an umbrella. I walked as close to the edges of the buildings so I wouldn't get as wet. I made my way to the metro, about a 15 minute walk.
Street venders are smart. They sell small and large umbrellas in the metro entrances. I had to buy one for 5€, otherwise my day would be a write off. Obviously they make a huge profit on each sale. Mental note - Pack an umbrella.
I made my way from the subway station to the Castello Sforzesco. It didn't seem as old as other castles I've seen. It dates back to the 14th century. Regsrdless it is still beautiful. I did not visit the museum inside but it houses Michaelangelo's last piece Randanini Pietà.
I went back to the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II where I visited yesterday. I missed one thing I wanted to see. The mosaic bull. Tradition has it that if you spin on the bill it will bring you good luck. I didn't spin on it because it seemed to be surrounded by tour groups every time I walked by. I did manage to get a picture though.
I had a quick bite to eat for lunch (pizza), walked around a bit more and found these ancient Roman columns called Colonne de San Lorrenzo. I enjoyed this place because it was in an open area and the San Lorrenzo church overlooks the columns.
I was completely soaked, cold and uncomfortable. I decided to head back to the hostel and change into some dry clothes and relax for awhile.
Unfortunately, I checked the forecast and it's calling for rain in Venice and Florence for the next week. Arrr. I'm disappointed. :(.
Q16
A person from Canada is called a Canadian. A person from Rome is called a Roman. What do you call a person from Milan?
