So after some dancing in the street samba style, singing ´copa-copa-cobana´ along... you guessed it... the Copacobana and a crazy brazlian local derby footie match at the Maracana we busted out of the city and into paradise!

After a shaky start with city life we ended up loving Rio and were really sad to leave the craziness of hundreds of brazilians dancing to the sound of a few beats of a drum in the street, the amazing beauty of the coastline, the beach hotties, and even the dogs wearing shoes (i kid you not!)!

So where were we... We negotiated ourselves onto a bus out of Rio to Argro do Rois and jumped on a catamaran ferry across to Ilha Grande (Big Island). The island has no cars or cash points and consists of a small town near the port and tons of beaches, hammocks, walking trails, natural pools, diving sites and a claim of the best beach in Brazil - Lopes Mendez! We are yet to get to Lopes (its a 2.5 hour walk or a boat trip... we´ll decide how energetic we feel tomorrow!)

So far we love the island, and think its kind of cool just being on an island! Sven is convinced it´s the island from lost!!! So anyway we´re here for 2 nights so are going to enjoy being beach bums for that time...
