Arrived in sunny melbourne monday afternoon....AND....dparted from Claire and Beth...i'm going it alone! Yes you heard me correctly i'm gonna be exploring the east coast and thailand on my own...still getting used to the idea myself-all seems abit daunting at the moment...but i'm sure after a few days i'll be ok! Luckily for me-Lee Smith (my saviour-i love you lee!) is currently staying in melbourne and has helped me out so much over the last few days-he gave me a place to stay to just get myself sorted over the last few days as arrive din melbourne abit dazed and lost. Anyway tonight is my first night in the hostel so we'll see how things go.... :o)
Since my last journal entry (gawd seems so long ago...!) Went to milford sound-meant to be the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand-and i'm usre it would of been much nicer had it been gorgeous weather but on the day we went it was as overcast as anything you didn't have very clear visability at all, which also meant the driver couldn't be arsed to stop at places en route coz it we weren't going to get v. good piccies-hence we spent 4 hours on the coach each way to spend 2 hours aboard the milford sound boat-definately not $169 well spent! Was planning on staying there for a night but there was literally nothing in the surrounding area so we checked back into queenstown that evening But ah well.....you learn that everyone has differing opinions!
Hmmmm....thinking back....ooo went to Kaikora for a couple of days and had the best time ever swimmming with wild dusky dolphins. Was about 5-6 pods of them, and it was just amazing getting the chance to snorkel among them in their own habitat...swimming so close by u just wanted to reach out and touch them.mind u think a few needed to go to specsavers-as a few bumped into me en route. After Queenstown we headed to Christchurch-a nice city-had abit of a cultural time there visiting the museums, art galleries, arts centre, botanic gardens, cathedral etc etc-being the interlect that i am and all!lol! Had a english feel to the place with all the old trams running through the city and all the lush gardens...these journals aren't v. descrip[tive i know but if i tell you it all now i'll have nothing to talk about when i get home!well that's my excuse for now anyway!
Since been in Melbourne-just been getting my bearings around the city and learning the transport system (all seemed pretty easy with lee-but we'll see how i easy i find it on my own tomorrow!lol!hmmmm....!) and today went to Melbourne Zoo :o) In the evenings been looked after by lee and his housemate-went to pub with them the first night and met two french lads and n german lad they'd got to know over the last few months and then last night we went to a lovely lil' itailian place and had the best spagetti carbonara!YUM! Seems like a really nice city thou (quite envious of lee spenidng 5 months here really!) from first impressions-fairly big but everything sems within easy reach to me and feel safe wandering around on my own with my hostel being quite central (so don't worry mum n dad!n sorry bout the 5/6am phone calls!) Thinking of probabaly spending a week or two here before heading off to sydney-as seems like plenty to do-lot's of attractions/city life/beaches/moutain walks etc and also will just give me chance to get myself all sorted and decide how i want to do the rest of the east coast-sooo any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated!
