So, after a bit of time in Miraflores I am in a much better mood. I got a much needed coffee fix and all is well. I was in a more upscale area that tourists frequent, I know it sounds bad but it made me really happy to hear someone speaking English. I also went to Starbucks, I got my standard grande Americano it cost s/. 7.50 so around uhhh, $2.50USD, so about the same, a little cheaper. We looked at jewlrey and ropa Peruano, a lot of it was aimed at tourists and there were many things that I had seem at the InkaMercado for probably 3 times the price. Here in Peublo Libre things are a lot cheaper, we're not really a touristy area, although there are a few hostals I have yet to see anyone who stands out as a tourist. It is about a 30 minute ride on the kombi to get to Miraflores. The kombi costs s/. 1.20 which is about $0.40 USD to go from P- Libre to Miraflores. There is no municipal transit here so you have to walk, which is far for Miraflores, kombi or taxi. We usually take the kombi, I think they run all hours but I am not entirely sure. They are often over crowded and stuffy, I have yet to be pickpocketed which is awesome and overall they are cheap and relativly accessible. And, today there were some chicos lindos so I had no problem being a creep and watching them!
We also went to a little area with artisans, I bought some earings 2 pairs for s/. 12 which is mehhh $4USD, one pair for myself and one pair as a gift. At the artesan markets its cool to haggel but it's pretty obvious they have their minds set on a certain price, they say they hook me up because I am always with Peruanos, and now I am üno de nosotros¨ but thats probably bull, and they usually only lower the price by s/. 2. After this we went to a little circle, they were playing all sorts of music, chicha, cumbia, salsa, etc and people were dancing, mostly older people dancing and tourists watching, we, being Maria myself and su sobrina Suzi, watched for a bit then Maria dragged me onto the dance area. It was pretty fun although I am not the best dancer ever and it was a good time. We took the kombi home and when I got off at my stop I found that I couldn't open the door to the house! Aye dios mio! I banged and banged hoping Sr Castillo would hear me, he came up behind me with popcorn waondering what I had been doing, he had gone out for a snack. Earlier that day we had made plans to go and eat cake so we went to Wong's and bought a portion de torta y gaseosa. So yeah, feeling much better and happier in Lima. Oh! I also saw that a museum we passed is having an Andy Worhol exhibit so I am going to hit that up, also in the theater they are doing an adaptation of Änimal Farm¨and I LOVE Orewell so Iam proabbly going to hit that up too, ¨La rebellión de los chanchos¨ so I guess in closing a little chant would be good...
