This morning we left London to fly to Athens.

We got to Heathrow in plenty of time and spent a couple of hours in the duty free area. Our flight was due to leave at 10:40 am but we didn't get given our gate number until 10:30. We headed straight there only to get to the gate, sit down and then be told that they had mixed up the gate numbers and we had to go to another. When we got there we were all loaded on the plane pretty much straight away. After sitting on the plane for about 15 mins we were told that we were just waiting for clearance to take off. After another 10 mins or so we were told that we were actually waiting for catering to be loaded on the plane. Then about 20 mins later we were told we would have to wait another 15 mins as their was a traffic jam on the runway. We finally took off just over an hour after we were meant to.

We got to Athens just as it started to get dark so didn't have much of an opportunity to do any sightseeing. We have to be up early in the morning to catch the ferry to Santorini so we went for dinner in the restaurant in the hotel. The food was absolutely beautiful. For an entree we had fetta cheese with olive oil and herbs drizzled over it. We have never had fetta that good before. The local red wine was also beautiful.

We have been told that breakfast tomorrow doesn't open until 6.30 but as we are leaving here at 6.15 there are going to put on a small breakfast for us at 5.45 which is great.
