07.04.07 - Great start to my day! I have a missing wallet some pikey git has knicked it dont know were or when but it has gone. This left me in a some what difficult position I have no money or cards ready available now, Instead of worrying or getting a little stressed I seem to be very chilled about it all. First of all I had to sort my Ferry ticket out luckily she believed my story and I was not charged for the return trip. Then sat on the coach which is a 4 hour journey south, But the Ozexperience bloke has brought a DVD along Family guy season 5 get in I am happy as larry. I get in touch with my Australian bank account advise them to cancel my cards so nothing else can happen. I then arrive at beaches were a few conversations and a little understanding I am managing to hold any payment until Tuesday, The best is though my sailing trip is tomorrow around the Whitsundays, Great Barrier Reef so I need a Hat, Sun Cream also glasses so I find the nearest chemist not expecting much and explained to him about my situation he says well mate we dont want you getting burnt take what you want pop back in on tues pay for the goods. People have been so good to me I have been very lucky. Tonight just had an early one and packed my bag for the boat.
08.04.07 - Easter Sunday, I cant think of a better way of spending it, Today I took off on my boat which I will be on for the next 2 days and Nights called the SV Whitehaven and what a vessel she is. We will be sailing round one of the 7 natural wonders of the world the Great Barrier Reef, Were we will snorkel and walk on some of the islands and check out the beaches. We sailed out at 1pm were we stayed on the boat for the next 3-4 hours we then anchored up put on our stinger suits as their is some Jelly fish in their which could be fatal so we were all looking dead sexy in our lycra suits then out we went. The reef is totally breathtaking with an array of colours and fish down on the sea bed, Unfortunatley the weather was not that great so it was a little cloudy but still getting closer than I ever will plus we will have a few more stop offs along the way, Some people got the rare chance of seeing a turtle and swimming with it. Once we were in off the boat we was brought out some snacks of cakes plus biscuits we were all well pleased obviously being backpackers we hardly ever snack so this is a big luxury. We then set sail again for a nother few hours before we anchor up for the night, tea is prepared for us which is chicken curry great stuff but just as dinner is being served the heavens open the weather changes and high winds start battering the boat all part of the sailing experience I guess but its not suppose to get any better for the weekend. After tea we had a few beers and then went down to the cabin for the night.
09.04.07 - Arh me matey its an early start at 6.30am, The weather did not change any last night nor has it this morning infact it has got worse the rain is still pouring down and the high winds are still their. Our destination for the day is suppose to be Whitehaven beach the skipper informs we can either try going for it but admits once we hit the waters which are not surronded by islands its going to get a whole lot worse, Anyway we decided to still go for it and see what happens. Skip was totally right as we try heading out to our destination the boat is up and down side to side water coming over and were only doing 2 miles an hour so he decides we are going no were fast and to turn round and head to another point of the whitsundays. We arrive at our next desitnation at around 11am the weather has some what calmed down for now but it being tropical season probably wont be for long and we head out for a bush walk, then on to a beach were it is covered in dead coral and weird sand this place is so amazing. At 4pm a window of oppurtunity arrives the sun is out and were in a perfect reef spot so we all get suited up and in we go, This is so much better than yesterday plus you can see the full colours, effects down in the sea with the fish and reefs. We then head back on to boat were we remain for the rest of the night again with all food provided this is the first time since I left England were I have had a full 3 meals in a day. As the sun sets a few of us are sat outside and some sees a ripple in the ocean then we spot a family of Dolphins not to far away passing by us the day gets better and better even with the weather it has added to the experience. As the sun has set the clouds have cleared I am totally amazed as I look into the sky I have never seen a starry night like this you can see everything and the sky is completley lit up with them, Hope the sleep is better than last night.
10.04.07 - Shiva me'timbers, Another early start as we are heading back to land at 8am so I jump intso the sea at 6:10am best way to start the day and ho look at the reefs, fish once last time before I get back to land but their is a few Jelly fish hanging around this morning so I dont stay along and get my a** out of the water. As we head back again the waters are choppy but the sun is out so Im stood on the end of the boat taking all that fresh sea air into my lungs. Once I get back on land I have the fun job of trecking to my bank to pay of my arrears from those kind people who were good enough to wait for their money. Once I get back to town I bump into Lea & Lisa from Magnetic Island and take them up to the shops show em round the place a little bit. A few us ended up going down to the bar having a few drinks, I could not believe it when I bumped into Lee from my first week Sydney as I thought he was fruit picking so that was cool then it was home to pack.
