Ra, Tim and Will (Aussies) were doing the Caving so I joined in despite it costing £65. I had to kill time until 4pm so went shopping and debated whether to go to the cinema to watch Due Date for £2.80 (it was half price on a Wednesday), but ended up missing it as it may have clashed with my trip.
Another random meal with gouda cheese, hot dogs and wholemeal bread and lasagne! Tried using the internet at a café but apparently it was down in the area so I opened one email and then gave up. The woman wanted to charge me a minimum so I told her where to go. The point of an internet café is to use the net I explained so there was no way I was paying and I walked out.
The Caving was a great experience. We walked 45 minutes up a mountain/hill to the caves, seeing a variety of fruit trees (eating some of the one called waterberry) and seeing a cattle standing on the top of one huge hill. Suicide! Also came across an animal the locals call a 'Dias' or something similar - it was some kind of big rodent inbetween the rocks in the hills.
The caving itself was a right laugh. I looked a right tit in overalls that were way too small for me and had holes in. I had a belt around my waist with a wire attaching it to the helmet and torch on my head.
The caves were pitch black and we'd occasionally turn the lights off to save battery but we were all so close together so it didn't really matter. I clattered into a few rocks because of my size but it was good fun squeezing through tiny holes and crevices in the rocks, getting wet and filthy. You wouldn't believe I got through looking at some of the spaces but crawling, shrinking, squeezing, pushing, holding and squirming got me through. I did however keep knocking my helmet off, throwing it at one point because it was annoying me but realising it was attached to my ass!
The life in the cave didn't consist of the monsters from The Descent, but just spiders, crickets and bats which we saw all of. One of the bats flew into my leg.
We came across the 'Flowing Stone' where all the rock appears to be dripping and in fact it was, but the rock was hanging like drops of water too. Deeper down the caves you could hear the river flowing underneath and the guy was telling stories of how some people have had to work fast when caving because of rising water from the rains and explaining that that is why they don't do it in bad weather - but outside the weather was raining!
After leaving the cave, we headed to the restaurant to get our takeaway pizzas, of course I chose the most expensive on the menu because I'd spent so much dollar. The pizza was awesome sat under an umbrella at the hot spring pool. There were a few locals getting it on in the water which slightly deterred us from going in but with the rain, we had to feel how warm the water was. The place was exotic with nice accommodation nearby, palm trees and this beautiful heated pool with small platforms in the water to rest your drinks in. So a few beers went down well.
Some couple went in the bathroom and she returned to wash off in the water which was disgusting and that was our cue!
