The girls were sound and gave us a free lift to Mtubatuba so we could jump on a minibus to Durban. Fuelled up with some muesli with yoghurt on that Michael had kindly donated - was good stuff. Mtubatuba was Mike's favourite place because the atmosphere was pumping with all the blacks dancing and blaring out music. The place was manic! We managed to get a £10 ride which was a third of what it cost poor old Jack to get the Baz bus. And we were there in under three hours.
On the way I bought an Iron Brew but then realised on the bus that it was half-empty, what a stitch!
When we arrived in Durban we had to walk 15 minutes to get to Tekweni backpackers, luckily a local Asian guy was going to the exact street so we walked with him - good job I asked.
Met Jack before getting food and drink at Spar, costing less than £3.
We decided because it was Friday and we were in Durban, it was time to go out. Only problem was our pre-drink bottle of brandy fell out of the freezer door and smashed everywhere. And I was to blame. Luckily I had poured big drinks for the others but the bloody shelf in the freezer was on a slant! On the plus side we still had six Hunters and a big coke so we just had to buy a few brandys. The woman in the shop massively undercharged us for all the booze too.
We started playing cards with two German lads (Matthias and Marcel) and three Swedes with British names. We ended up going out to bars and clubbing and had a right laugh. Spent about the same as you would at home on a student night, visiting Clapham Grand. It was a decent club but Mike had to go back to the backpackers and put trousers on as shorts aren't allowed. We were going to go in another club but the one German who was a semi-pro footballer, was too young at 20 (supposed to be 23 oops). Danced and drank the night away 'til pretty late.
