Thursday 3rd March
Had a very frustrating teaching day today. Had another grade 8 test today which went ok apart from two little t*** who wouldn't shut up and kept laughing constantly. After 5 min I split them up but they kept messing around all lesson, so in the end I told them if they didn't be quiet I'd tear their paper up in front of their face, that shut them up. In the end they got 4 and 9 out of 40, lol :D Then had rehearsal again in afternoon. I also bought some Biltong today, after being persuaded to buy some. For those who don't know it's just like Jerjy, raw dried and salted meat. Very nice but quite expensive, a shame as I'm now addicted to it :)
Friday 4th March
A good day today, gave 1 of the grade 8 classes their tests back which was funny, none of them were very happy as no-one passed, serves them right if they didn't work. I had no lessons period 7 and 8 so came back to the hostel and booked my accomodation in Cape Town at the backpackers + looked at activites to do, it's getting quite expensive. I'll put my holiday plan at the bottom. Had no rehearsals in afternoon so bought more Biltong and just sat around. Then in the eve I talked to my uncle on skype and saw my cousins which was great :D About 21:30 I went to another Braii at Davids where they were some other staff as well, was a great evening and the food was delicious :D
Saturday 5th March
Had rehearsal from 8 although didn't start untill 8.45 which was annoying as I could have had another 45 min in bed, but it's not worth being shouted at by one of the other staff so I just get there for 8. After rehearsal at 3, I went to the hotel with Weihan, Megan and Flic and had a drink which was good. Then I came back and cleaned the bath which was disgusting, most of it was black/brown, but it's now white :D In the evening we had pizzas for Lisa's birthday, in Flics room, very nice. Had advacardo and olives for the first time, can't say olives are my favorite though :/ I also spoke to Dan on FB for the first since being as well which was great :D It rained all day today and was quite cold, relative to what it has been, sort of felt like being in England, just with amazing scenery.
Sunday 6th March
What a day! for good and bad reasons. I went out for a walk about 9.30 to go up to the mountains. Just as I got to the foot of it, at the end of a road in Lady Grey, 2 little dogs came out and started barking and growing at me. I just kept walking quickly and climbed the gate and crossed the stream. I started walking along the path but after about 5-10min it dissapeared in thick buses and trees. I would have gone through but I wasn't really wearing the best clothing for walking through long grass and bushes, not with the wildlife around here, so I turned back and climbed on a rock for a while. Then I had to get back past the dogs, which is when I became scared of a dog for the first time ever. I'd just about got past the house when the two dogs from earlier and a bigger one all came out snarling and barking at me, the two little ones snapping at my ankles, one actually bit my shoe! I walked backwards so slowly, trying to keep calm, untill they left me alone about 20m later. I was physically shaking after this, not fun! Then I just went back to the hostel and chilled till 4. At 4 I went to the dam with Megan and Weihan and climbed the rocks for a bit, then went lower down the stream to a quieter area by a small waterfall, about 2m high. I went swimming here, jumping in from the top while Megan and Weihan took photos, it was great except the water wasn't that deep so I sort of had to land on my bum and back to prevent my legs smacking of the floor. This worked well except that it stung quite badly on impact :/ Then later I tried going in backwards, although the first time I slipped before I was ready and landed flat on the water on my back with a large slapping sound. Ouch! Then we just sat around for a bit and took more photos and ate crisps. A great afternoon/evening. Then I just came back and moved my room around to make it more homley and then just chilled.
Monday 7th March
Didn't do alot of teaching today, just 1 grade 4 class. 2 of the class drew all over the walls so I reported them and they each got a demerit. Had no rehearsals in afternoon or evening as we have now moved onto the Passion Play, but we can't do the music yet as choir are still learing the songs. There was also an hour long staff meeting but Flic, Becca and me didn't have to go :D During the afternoon I just sat in my room and talked to Flic and went through out holiday plans, then I watched the 2nd Transformers, which believe it or not I havnt seen yet. Stayed in During the evening as it was raining again!
Tuesday 8th March
Helped invidulate a grade 7 test with Megan. This was probably one of the worst classes I've seen, half the class tried to bunk, and then during the test they all kept talking and two blatenly cheated, so both got 0 and a demerit. That lesson actually really annoyed me :/ Then to add to this I invidulated another grade 8 test and 2 more students cheated during this. One wasn't even trying to hide it, so I just took their paper away while they were writing and slammed it down on the desk at the front and told them they had 0 :) Didn't really do much in the afternoon as everyone else was in rehearsals so it was a bit boring. Then in the eve I helped Flic paint the wall of the Koncerthus, although I only painted a pre drawn flim strip as my artistic skills weren't up to it for the main picture. Then came back and went to bed early, 21:00.
My Cape Town Holiday Plan
Leave Lady Grey on 18th March
Arrive Cape Town 19th March
Go Skydiving/Paragliding, Shark Cage Diving, Wine Tour, Cape Point Tour, Climb Table Mountain, Lie on the Beach :D This all adds up quite alot though, but the way I look at it, you only live once, so live it to the full, and I may not get the chance to do it again.
Then I'll leave Cape Town on the 25th and arrive back in Lady Grey on the 26th.
Believe it or not today, (8th March) is the 26th day I've been away. How time flies, it's gone so quickly. Soon I'll be planning the next holiday and then the last one, then it'll be time to come home. Scary. Better make the most of everyday :D
As yet I haven't managed to play tennis, not because I don't have time, but because the court has weeds growing through it, there's holes in the tarmac and there's no net! I am so carving a decent game of tennis now it's a joke, oh how I miss the Albert Lawn Tennis Club!
I haven't really managed to do any excercise whilst being here, tennis used to be all my excercise and riding my bike, but both those have gone now, running is the only option. Me and Flic are starting today. The weight I have put on in the last 3 weeks is a joke, I'm eating twice as much as at home, am eating like 5 times a day, I have no idea why, and am doing no excercise. Not good! Alot of running is needed!
That's all for this time, hope everyone's ok at home and that it's not too cold, lol :D Don't worry, I'll get my fair share of cold, apparently it get down to -12/13 quite regulary, sometimes as low as -25!
Bye everyone :D

Heather Hi Tom It is amazing reading the list of fun things to do in Capetowm. Sky diving good to miss! I look forward to sharing some useful classroom practice with you - has to be legal here though! Is it an impossible task to make tennis court playable - would school find money for nets if they saw you doing it. It would keep weight under control? Thinking of you lots. Loads of love Nana
