Well this is going to be a long blog as we have been in Barca and Rome. I will start with Barcelona which was probably the best place so far. The hostel was amazing and we met a few people. The first day we got the metro to guell park which was designed by gaudi and was quite nice to eat our picnic there. We then walked down to the Sagrada Familia ( think thats how you spell it). Even ricky was impressed with this although we all agreed that the older parts were better. We then got abit lost but eventually found the hotel that he designed although his other work was more impressive. We then went back to the hostel thinking we should have an early night. But we relised the beer was cheap so had a few beers and then got persuaded by an american to go on a pub crawl which was a really good laugh. Dont think many people can say they have sung in the street of barcelona with about 10 scottish/irish/american/spainish people at 4am. Ricky pulled an american girl which he was quite shocked about and lisa pulled an irish guy. Sorry mum but i got drunk. Still have my passport etc though so not as bad as Matt. The next day we just did the la ramblas and booked the ferry.
The ferry took 21hours but suprisingly the time went quite quickly as we could getabit of sleep but the seats werent very comfy and we couldnt sleep on the floor. The ferry however had quite abit to do but we mainly stayed on the top deck playing cards and sunbathing which was probably a bad idea as ricky and lisa got burnt. I have started calling lisa michael jackson now as her face is white but she has a red outline. We made up a funny version of take 2 which is a card game where if you are left with the ace you have to do a forfeit. This was hilarious as we ended up doing alsorts like dancing in front of everyone and shouting oggy oggy oggy. the italians were not impressed.
When we got off the ferry we meet 4 swedish guys and got the train with them into rome. They were going to stay at our hostel but there was no room which was kind of disapppointing but more for them as we had spent atleast 30mins trying to find the place in the dark. Rome is really nice and we went up to the Vatican today. we did the museums which were ok but the sistine chapel was quite impressive as the paintings looked like they were coming out. We then started walking to the Cathedral and there were loads of poplice around. I soon remembered that it was the g8 summit this week and hoped it might be obama rather than gordon. And it was! We saw Barack and Michelle Obama in there car. And about 50 other cars following. I was abit disappointed though as my camera ran out of battery as they turned the corner. We then went into the cathedral which was amazing and spent a while looking down grates with a torch to see if we could find anything, which was quite funny as loads of japanese people gathered around. Well just had lasagne for tea and are going to go to bed now. I am sure i have missed a story or two out so if anything coming s back to me i will add it in the next blog.
Ciao Tom.
