SUNDAY Only got 3 hours sleep after staying up to watch England get beaten by Portugal last night, so was happy to settle down on the bus this morning for our last ever bus journey with Oz Experience - the final leg up to Cairns! :( It's only about an hour and a half drive to Cairns from Mission Beach but to make a day of it, Oz Experience organise all sorts of detours meaning that we found ourselves at a crocodile farm by 10:30am!! We saw the crocs being fed by the keepers, and got the chance to hold baby crocs and numerous snakes. I then volunteered to be bitten by a snake in exchange for a free soft drink and a snack. Disappointingly I didn't get bitten, but instead had a snake put down my t-shirt and then my shorts, which Kim had to subsequently fish out! It was all fun - and I did still get my free drink and snack! After this we drove to the Milla Milla Falls - a waterfall which was unsafe to swim in due to a bacteria that apparently infects the eyes and ears. My disappointment at not being able to swim was swiftly removed after we were told that we would be going to Lake Eacham for lunch and a dip, so on we went! A quick cheese sandwich later and I was in the refreshing clear waters of Lake Eacham, with the tropical rainforest around me and the sun shining above me. After about half an hour we left the Lake and made the last part of the trip towards Cairns via the AJ Hackett Bungy Centre...! Because I had already done the Nevis in New Zealand, I wasn't going to do this bungy, but Kim was finally persuaded to banish her demons and go for it! A nervous hour long wait eventually gave way to about 8 seconds of adrenaline fuelled fun, as Kim managed to throw herself from a height of 50 metres towards the waiting boat below. Sufficient screaming was par for the course, but a triumphant Kim emerged at the end, with a DVD and a slightly less professional recording on her camera by me as proof!! We finally got to our hostel in Cairns at 7ish and I came to the internet to give you our status... So only a few days to amuse oursleves until we fly to Thailand this coming Friday! Blimey time flies when you're having fun. Anyway, we are on our way out to commemorate the end of our whirlwind Oz Experience tour, so I shall love you and leave you, and be back on here soon(ish)...
