When we got here we hired a tandem bike and cycled the tourist path along the waterfront through the pines. It was a lovely route and there was a nice pier at the end (1124metres long!!) It was a boiling day and great fun, although its harder than it looks! We managed the hills a bit easier when Jules decided to actually pedal!!!!!
We have just returned from our Fraser Island trip and it was incredible! Left Hervey Bay (bit of a boring and wierd place!) on Monday and got the ferry across in our group to Fraser Island (the largest sand island in the world). The scenery was fantastic. The driving was pretty amazing too! Bit bumpy if you were in the back, and I think our jeep was slowly dieing as towards the end of the 3rd/last day we spent most of the day getting bogged down in the sand and all having to get out and push! There are some very beautiful lakes and fresh water creeks on the island which, were so refreshing after camping, sleeping and walking around constantly covered in sand. Some are so fresh that you can drink from the lakes... but we decided against sampling the water. One part of the island we drove to was called Indian Heads. This was a high rocky lookout point where you could see all types of sea creatures! I spotted Stingrays and jellyfish and Tom spotted some shark fins circling! Great few days!
