MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! We hope you all had a great day and enjoyed the festivities to the full.
There's not much to report on of late. We're still working and are now settled into our new studio apartment.
We had our photo shoot last Saturday - was really fun, especially for Abi who had worked out all of her poses weeks in advance and had the photographer impressed!! Tom worked the camera too, but worried he would smudge his makeup - not just on the photo shoot but for the rest of the day where he left it on....uhum!
We went to Auckland's Christmas in the park which was pretty awesome. Over 100,000 people were there in this massive, beautiful park. You just sit out with your picnic's and watch all the entertainment on the main stage. Abi wants to sing on it next year!
Tom is about to start his role as Manager after getting to grips with how the restaurant works the last couple of weeks. But he may be about as popular as herpes with the current Manager when he takes over from him - keep him in your thoughts! Abi is preparing to "sort people out" if they're nasty to her husband!
Tuesday 23 December we had the day off together, our first one since starting work. We decided to have our kind of Christmas Day together in the city. We went out for a meal but got caught in a massive rainstorm walking there so we were like drowned rats on arrival. The rain here doesn't pass after half an hour like it does in England to a light spit - but it is a constant downpour for hours on end - it went on throughout the night, non stop! So we got caught in it on the way back too.
Christmas Day was lovely. We went over to Sunnynook where we spent time with some friends of friends on Mersea. The sun was out and there was a whole pig with a branch up its' bum being spit roast over an open fire dug into the ground (a Tongan tradition). Christmas Day was very weird as you can imagine. Sun...spit roast and sun burn. Abi missed her family incredibly and although it was a great day, it felt far from Christmas as she was far from her family.
Today has been another day off together where we decided to do a harbour cruise round Auckland. Now that Christmas is over, the next big event of the year is about to be upon us - Abi's Birthday! She has kindly allowed me to buy just one present from each shop up the length of Queen Street (we might be coming home earlier than expected)!
Well we hope you all had a great Christmas and got spoilt rotten. We've missed you all this year.
