Hey peeps,
Well life is going ok over here, the racing is hard hilly and fast! But good. I have now finished a few races one being a 2 day stage race and the other being a 100km flat race where I finished 28th by all accounts. It began to rain in the middle of the race and I didnt know the French road so slow in the wet, yet people still managed to get in the ditches I am quite unsure how though.
At the hotel all the French staff are starting to get used to me and Michael being about it's a bit like having a big house with a large family, we have started what we call the key game, At lunch the staff bring their keys and put them on the table and Michael has taken it up on himself to remove all keys from the table and hide them.
Some of the staff have caught on to what we have been doing and have joined us in this past time, the really funny bit comes when someone leaves the table then the person opposite takes the keys, but what they haven't realised is that when they left the table earlier the person opposite took his or her keys too, they automatically blame me but 9times out of ten we get them to take each others (yet they still put the keys on the table) I'm sure soon they will see what we have had them doing and no keys will be placed on the table but until then lunchtime is a real highlight.
The past week or so have been good fun, we have climbed Mt Ventoux been the service crew for en endurance race (all I serviced was my back wheel) and we have been to the official festival of music that happens every year though out France, its just like one big street bash, each street has a different band with a different theme, really really good fun! Some of the staff at the hotel came and were all very jovial.
This Sunday the racing was good, I was going well until my hammy ripped a little on a breakaway. It's ok, but painful. I still finished the 130km race with only 1.5 legs a slow puncture and still managed to ride away from people. Michael Finished 19th after getting into a good break that went early. And the other two of our team mates were both ill with food poisoning?? (They cook their own food as well)???.Does make you wonder. At the moment I am just chilling and waiting for the hammy to fix a bit more before I even attempt to give it some stick!
I am not looking forward to the end of the season and an English winter! But I'm sure it won't be that bad? Will it?I have now had my first pay packet from the team and will be due my next one soon. Its not a bad set up really, I don't get paid a lot but I do get all my food, internet access, table tennis, crazy golf, swimming pool, books, cinema and a place to live with a cool bunch of people. I the next week or so I am trying to get a free canoeing trip sorted down the Ardeshe river! That will be awesome.
So till next time stay safe.
