I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. It was hot and there wasn't enough air coming through the cabin. I ended up falling asleep in the salon where there was more air moving.
This morning Peter and I covered the mainsail, rigged the boom tent and the aft canopy. It was hot work and I couldn't stop sweating.
I packed as much as I could, cleaned the foreward head and took a nice cold shower. Peter took off to try to get his antenna connection fixed and I just enjoyed being alone on the boat.
About noon, I headed out. I wanted to get back up to Old Town but I didn't want to walk or pay $12 for a taxi, so I found the nearest bus stop and asked how much to to Town. Fifty cents!
I got some more cash from an ATM and just walked around town. I stopped to buy some ice cream and ended up getting a killer toothache. Then I had to find a drug store to buy some Ambesol. I found a Walgrens about three blocks away.
Then I stopped in a coffee shop beside a little public square and had some coffee and a pastry. I applied the Ambesol and that seemed to do the trick, at least temporarily.
I wandered up to the Colon Plaza which is another public square with a big statue of Christopher Columbus. This one had more activity in it including a group dressed in period costume promoting walking tours.
I parked myself at a shady sidewalk cafe and ordered a Corona followed by another and a traditional lentil soup. My toothache immediately re-asserted itself.
About 6:45pm I walked the three blocks up to the square where I was to meet Peter. He was there waiting for me but in a very foul mood. It seems he had a terrible time getting the antenna connection repaired, got ripped off by a taxi cab driver, and managed to upset his girl friend back in England for not checking to see if his credit card had arrived. I just listened as he unloaded his critique of the day.
Dinner was bland as I had to settle for a salad to keep my tooth from flaring.
We made it down to the bus station in time to take the last bus back to Club Nautico.
