Title: Now We are Three
Today we went over to the Cruz Bay side of the Island to pick up Mirko. We weren't sure which ferry he was arriving on so we just camped out at the bar and checked each one.
From Barry's description, I was pretty sure I would be able to pick him out.
Sure enough, after about the third ferry we checked, I spotted a long haired, dark skin gypsy-like guy with a huge back pack,
I met him on the dock and led him to the bar where Barry was waiting. Mirko was happy to see Barry. Evidently, Mirko was homeless when Barry had the boat out on the hard in Trinidad. They worked out some kind of deal and Mirko moved in with Barry.
So when Barry was looking for crew, he contacted Mirko and he signed up because he was trying to get back home to Italy.
Mirko has a thick Italian accent, which just adds to his charm. But he's been practicing his English and communicates pretty well. Much better than Barry gave him credit for.
After a few beers, the three of us caught a bus for the grueling ride over the mountain to Coral Bay.
Mirko seems to be easy going and very social.
He had dinner at Skinny Legs and took the dingy out to the boat. Mirko got settled in and we called it a night.
