Title: Unrep
In the Navy, when a ship needs supplies at sea, a supply ship comes along side and supplies are high-lined from the supply ship to the ship in need. This is called an "UnRep" or Underway Replenishment, and is quite the feat to observe as both ships have to maintain exactly the same speed and bearing until the task is complete. I have witnessed this dozens of times and have never seen an accident.
Well, we didn't do that. But we did have our own version of an Unrep. Since we have been using the engine a lot, we needed to refuel while underway. This involves a steady helm (me) and the other two going forward on deck with two 2 gallon jugs. They carefully siphon fuel from one of the twelve 5 gallon jugs and bring them to the cockpit where they then siphon from the small jugs into the main tank. This process is repeated about 4 times and takes about an hour. It, like the Navy version is a nice thing to watch because it looked very hard to do, not to mention precarious!
Other then that, it was just another beautiful day at sea.
