Thursday 24 March, Mt Cook to Christchurch.
It looks like a bit of a rainy day in Mt Cook, a good day to drive nearly 4 hours to Christchurch to catch up with Jeff & Marg again. But we have a few stops along the way, first up the Tasman Valley to try to see the lake and glacier. No joy, the rain came down and the clouds were mantling the mountains. Then down the road with a quick coffee stop followed by a look at the "wee church" at Lake Tekapo (Church of the Good Shepherd). The rain was so intense that we didn't get out of the car, just took some pictures. A big surprise that it was next to the township, the tourist information gave the impression that it was out in the wilds, by itself.
Gromit our navigator, otherwise known as the Garmin GPS, took us around Christchurch so Colin had an easy drive to Jeff & Marg's place by 2.00pm. We catch up with tales of our travels and then enjoy a BBQ with the neighbours. It was a bit of a "thank you" to the neighbours for lending their fold-away bed two weeks ago, so Marg's niece could spend the night .
