The next morning a town car picked us up and took us to downtown Chicago. We got a taste of Chicago rush hour traffic. About as bad as Seattle's. I did notice that right down the middle of I-90 they had a commuter train that disappeared underground as you neared the city. There were stations along the way connected to both sides of the freeway with overpasses to commuter parking lots. This is what we need in Seattle. Such a simple solution.
Once in town, we took a four hour tour of the sites of Chicago on a hop on-hop off double-decker bus. As you might expect, the tour company was long on promises and short on delivery. If you ever come here with a short layover, take the river cruise.
I did notice that most men in Chicago look like John Belusi and most seemed to speak Russian?
As one would expect, the only day this week that thunderstorms were forecast was the day we were there! Go figure! It poured in the early morning, but by 11 am it was hot and sunny. We even took the Red Line subway from Old Town to the Sears Tower.
The town car returned us to the hotel to retrieve our luggage and then on to the airport for our flight to Paris.
