We took a bus through into Peru and arrived into Puno. This is the place where people live on Reed islands in Lake Titicaca and was the main reason for me and Tim were stopping over here for a couple of nights. Puno turned out to be alot more than this. We stayed at the Incas Rest, which was a really friendly hostel. The owners are really nice and made us feel really welcome. We spent the first afternoon wondering round, it had a lovely square and a nice port area and also some really nice cafes with lush cakes. The second day, we took a trip out to the reed islands. There were some fun people on our tour that we hung out with. The reed islands feel quite strange when you get out of the boat, because they kind of wobble a bit. It was really interesting to find out how people live and also how the reed islands came into existence and how they are made. I was a bit dubious as to whether the people were recieving any money from the tour operators or whether they were only receiving money from the handicrafts they sold. Therefore I made sure I bought something, although I am not sure I am going to get it back to England in one peice. We were going to have a lazy afternoon, but Tim decided as usual he wanted to walk up a big steep hill, so he could look at the view of Puno. We got to the top and it was an amazing view, the only thing was we were surrounded by snogging couples and drunks, so we didn't stay very long at the top. The afternoon turned out to be fantastic, because Puno turned out to have a fiesta that day and we spent the rest of the day enjoying watching people in custumes dancing around. It was great. We also had the best pizza that evening. The next morning we got up well early to get the train to Cusco. It was really ace to look at the mountains and villagees, towns, cities we passed on the way, even if the train went an average of 23 miles per hour. Luckily we also had two really nice Canadians sat opposite us who we chatted to on the way.
