Ah right the south island.
We entered the south island at Picton. We were staying there for 3 nights and after a quick stroll around the town (more of a village) we realised we had booked up for too long. It was nice enough and reminded me of a small Torquay or something. The highlight of Picton was having my medical examination for my visa. It was then that i was told i needed to go to Blenheim for a chest xray. Blenheim was 30km away and the xray couldnt take place until monday atleast (it was friday then). With the group leaving Picton for Nelson in the morning i was forced into staying in Picton or going to Blenheim for the weekend to get the xray done. I ended up in Blenheim saturday afternoon feeling lonely and dubious about actually meeting people (it was very daunting being on my own with no-one to speak with). It was fine as i roomed with another English lad, two german guys and a swiss lad turned up later. Blenheim was again quite with more people staying longer to work in the orchards and vineyards. The hostel was nice and had a garden overlooking a river - where i spent a few hours each evening watching the world go by whilst listening to the german guy playing his guitar. The day before i left Blenheim i visited a string of winearies for wine tasting with my temporary friends - Stefano (Swiss/Italian), Dokyu (South Korean) and Wayne (England). We hired bikes out and cycled for miles and miles between winearies tasting all the local wine (all free of course).
As it turned out i didnt actually need an xray so on the monday i made my way back to Picton to see the doctor again and get it all singed and then made my way west to Nelson where i planned to meet back up with the group. After checking in at a hostel at the top of town i made my way to find them. After a few hours reunion (speaking about the weekend) i headed back to the hostle for a quiet night as we had a bus for 7am the next morning
