Hi everyone
well what have i been up to?
Quite alot actually. Josh and I are settled in the house now. We still haven't bought a mattress so I'm on the floor tonight. We found a tv in the cupboeard though so now we have something else to do than read (we've chewed though alot of books already..but can't wait for new harry potter...could someone tell me when it comes out i know its soon and I'm pumped!!). Work-wise, I have found a job doing stuff I said Id never do...function waiting...it's crap but I get to work heaps so thats ok. I did 18 hours on friday. All last week I was doing reception work and this week im doing wine waiting. Its good because it's casual and if I wanted to I could take days off to go travelling. But not tillIve earnt some money. Cricket is going well. Josh managed a 5 for last weekend which was great. I haven't done much since but have been keeping a bit which is fun. Sunday cricket i so much fun. We got smoked yesterday but had such a good day then just hung around at the pub for the rest of the evening. IT's weird because we don't finish normally until at least 7:30 and don't get back to hte oub till about 9 but then we get on it.
For the world cup final Josh and I went into one of the Walkabout pubs (aussie pubs in london) and watched it from 1230. Seeing it was raining and the game started about 3 hours late we were well hammered even before the game (me moreso becasue I tried to keep up with Josh...silly move...it's like trying to keep up budge). So we were well hammered and don't remember everything but it was still a sweet night.
On my time off Ive done a little of sightseeing around Grenwich and London. Greenwich mean time is measured from Geenwich Observatory. So im living in GMT but you are all living in GMT + 9 becasue you are all 9hours ahead (except from bro...b*****ed if I even knew where he was...somewhere in eastern europe!!). IIF you straddle the date line you are standing on both the western and eastern hemisphere's (I didn't know there were such things...pretty cool hey). ANd know my watch is exactly det to GMT to the second...what a geek! The observatory is cool though. It was built so the government could solve the longitude problem (helping ships navigate) and also houses the first clock was was able to be used onboard ships. (I have to say thanks to the walking encyclopaedia...James Moffat for giving me a great lesson in this subject). Maritime Greenwich (housing the Observatory, Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark (fastest ship in world in 1859) is one on three heritage listed areas on whole of London.
One day I also had off I decided to do a walk along the Thames starting from the most Western bridge in LOndon...Battersea Bridge, to the most eastern and most spestacular...Tower bridge. Each time I got to the next bridge I crossed the Thames on it. IT was great. There 14 bridges in all. It was about 7 km and a great way to spend an afternoon. Some highlights were Battersea Park...absolutely beautiful. I also went past par;iament house, Westminster Abbey, Globe theatre (where Shakespeare worked 500 years ago), city hall, Tate modern, Tate nritain, St PAul's Cathedral, Tower of London. Along the way I also took a few detours off and went to Stamford Bridge (Chelsea FC's home ground, The Oval (a test cricket ground) and the Monument). Sweet day.
