What a view! Amazing, awesome, gigantic, and grand! This is the Grand Canyon and it is huge, far bigger than what I could ever have imagined. No photo can bring the Canyon into a 2 dimensional space, nor can a photo capture its breadth, depth and height. Even sitting here at this location we were gazing upon just a small fragment of this mighty seismic shift in platonic plates millions of years ago. The Colorado River was flowing at the base of this mighty canyon, barely visible to the naked eye as it seemed to be almost gobbled up in the bowels of these incredible rocky cliffs that formed the 18 kilometre width of the Canyon walls.
Our tour guide, Steve, did a most wonderful thing...after driving for more than 3 hours from Monument Valley, we got outvof the mini bus, and he made us walk blindfolded , holding hands, until we were at the edge of the Canyon. Simultaneously we took off our banditoes and there we were, gazing upon one of the Natural Wonders of the World. It was a fantastic moment. Out of the darkness, we were now seeing the splendour of this magnicent place.
