They best way of getting from bangkok to Phuket is definitely flying. It's only an hour flight but, even plus all the checking in time, transfers to and from the air port, it's still half the time it would have taken by land. The airports here are easy to navigate there relatively small. They have plenty of signs and if you do get stuck you can always ask.
