We woke up after little sleep for the 10am breakfast. However the hostel had packed it all away apparently at 9.30am. So we grabbed a cup of the free coffee which was ice cold.
We decided to walk to Kalemegdan citadel an old fort like structure that overlooked the Danube river. The weather was clear and hot, so it made it a nice walk around the forts now park. I managed to find a Serbian flag here...one for the bag. The park had loads of ruins from the fortress deep history. There were signs everywhere saying certain walking areas we risked death. Which as amusing. The centre of the citadel is the Military museum, we didn't go inside, but looked around the outside which has the largest tank and gun collection I had seen. The park contained Belgrade zoo, Stevie really wanted to go so we headed there. It was only a couple of Euro entrance. Although some of the animals were cute or rare our visit was over shadowed by the poor condition and lack of space at the zoo. We felt sorry for the animals more than enjoying their presence. Strangely they had European domestic dogs in tiny cages, polar bears in a concrete jungle and more space than needed for ducks, pigeons and terrapins.
Leaving the zoo we completed the circle of the park before heading down the tourist Knez Mihailova street. Which was a pedestrianised street lined with restaurants and bars. We stopped off for lunch. I eventually go Stevie her birthday present in Pandora., a cute little globe. We wandered around the city some more taking in the sites and atmosphere before making our way back to the hostel for a couple hours.
We headed out for dinner. Starving we had the full works with a couple of beers. Afterward we were going to head to a bar when we saw a small crowd around a street artist so we decided to have a look. It was quite impressive. This guy would get a blank canvas and create a futuristic world in a matter of minutes with spray cans. It was interesting watching him and the techniques he was using. Although there was a big crowd we managed to buy the picture we just saw him create. It is always nice to buy original art especially when it is created right in front of you.
As the paint was still wet we couldn't really roll it up and head to a bar so we decided to chill back at the hostel and stream a few shows. This time our room mates chilled with us. Although it didn't stop randoms walking in and out. This time the music went on until 6.30am, we didn't really get any sleep that night. When the music finally went off, 2 backpackers decided they needed to help eachother release their tensions. The awkward squeeking drove me nuts. So I was straight on trip advisor writing a bad review. I contemplated getting the bus there and then, but managed to get an hours sleep before check out.
