It was an early start, the airport shuttle picked us up around 6.20am. Arriving at Christchurch airport, we quickly weighed our bags as they were bursting at the seems, luckily our bags were on the money, just reaching the maximum checkin and carry on allowance.
After a 2 hour stop over in Auckland we started our longest flight home, across the ocean we cut ourself loose, back on the road, looking for something more beautiful, something more exciting, and maybe something more dangerous.
After 12 hours in the back of an airplane, 3 movies, 2 pastic meals and absolutely no sleep, we finally touched down in Honk Kong.
We have no idea about the language, the bus, train or cab services, so after loosing count of how many times we circulated the airport, we finally figured out the trains and headed to Kowloon where a shuttle picked us up and droped us off at the Empire Hotel. Shattered we went to bed around 11.30pm.

Incredibly we woke up at 6.30am, clearly still on New Zealand time. Wide awake we decided to get up and make the most of our time here. We opened our blinds to see our 21st storey view. The view was beathtaking, not in the sense of beauty, but the sheer amount of tower blocks. hundreds of them, the day looked overcast so we dressed for what we saw. BIG MISTAKE. As soon as we left the aircon'd hotel the extreme humidity hit us both, we decided to take the gamble and head to Avenue of the Stars, walking along this boulervard Stevie and I were dripping wet. The walk turning in to a crawl, the crawl eventually forcing us to stop.
We didn't really know any of the stars except Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, luckily we got their before the big tourist buses turned up. We then jumped on a ferry over to Hong Kong island to see the famous Victoria Peak, stopping off at random locations on the way.
We walked to the base and took the tram to the top, this tram was going up elevations of like 50 degrees. The view from the Peak balcony gave us panoramic views of the city. Getting down was alot harder, geting lost in the maze of shops below.
With made our way back to Kowloon and stopped off at our hotel to change into something abit more appropriate for the weather.
By this time we were absolutely starving, after a long search we managed to find a cool, popular fast food noodle restraunt. Although it was all in Chinese we managed to get through the whole process without a hitch.
We then took the train up to the Diamond Hill to see the Chi Lin nunnery and Nan Lian Garden. It was like an oasis in the middle of this concrete jungle. A shot of pure Chinese traditional utopia.
We then headed down to Mong Kok to the Ladies Market. This place was like a groundhog day labrynth of duplicate stalls, selling knocked off designers gear and tech accessories.
On the way back we strayed into a poor district where randoms just sat around on benches and under trees resting out of the sun. We made a quick exist back to the main street.
Heading back down Shoppers boulevard we saw a poor lady asleep on a bench, I made a joke to Stevie that her top half was hanging out and as we passed her she had her legs spread and to our surprise no knickers!!
We took a walk through Kowloon Park and down the Avenue of Comic Stars. Large statues of popular comics lined the walkway.
We finally got back to our Hotel to freshen up for dinner and head down to the Harbour to watch the symphony of lights. A 14 minute musical light display where the Hong Kong Skyline would light up with various light and beams in sync with the music. I did think it would be more impressive.
We headed out of dinner at a local restraunt before venturing back to the hotel. The Chinese BBQ Combo with rice was nice, except for the weird coloured egg that was still in its shell and placed on the side of my bowl,
