We woke up early to catch the boat to Isla del sol, via Isla del Luna. We met up with Begonia on the boat before heading off. We dropped off other passengers at Isla del sol while we stayed on the boat to visit Isla del Luna (Island of the moon) to see some inca ruins that we had to pay extra to see....we still aren't sure that they are real or worth it! Here we met a German girl called Sandra, who joined us for the trip. The 5 of us then headed back to Isla del Sol where we would stay the night.
We managed to find a hostel half way up the hill that looked across Lake Titicaca. The lake was beautiful and vast. In the horizon sat a snow capped andean mountain range. With time spare we organised a trip to the north of the island. We had our own boat and it took around an hour. When we were there though it was 2 hours to the ruins of the north but the boat would only wait an hour as the sun was setting. So we decided to venture in as much as we could for that hour. The north of the island was beautiful. Backpackers were camping on the beach and playing games. We decided to walk up one of the mountains. I managed to get to the top while the rest of the group enjoyed the panoramic views from half way!
Heading back we saw a beautiful sunset. It was dark when we got back to the hostel. As the hostel didn't have electricity we were given a few candles to light the room and probably also to keep us warm. It was freezing being this high up.
We ventured out for dinner, which was a long walk up the hill. Out of breath with every step. We met other backpackers in the restaurant who said they also had stuff stolen in Copacabana. On the way back we noticed the sky. The stars were so bright and there were millions of them. We could also see the milky way. It was amazing. All of us have never seen the sky like this so took a moment to take it all in.
