well after a really stressful start to our trip because we almost missed our flight, and we could actually see them taking our bags off the plane not too fun i can tell you that much! but with some help from the BA staff we finally got on our flight and tbh its probably one of the best flights i have ever had! I however didnt sleep as it was daylight the Whole time so just watched lots of movies instead. when we finally arrived at JFK i was completely shattered! So we headed out and jumped into our 1st yellow cab!
So first day we woke up stupidly early as still hadnt adjusted to the time difference, so after getting ready we jumped on the new york train and had a HUGE map so looked like complete tourists but decided to head to 34th st so we got of in search of the Empire state building but the 1st person we asked just laughed at us as unbeknown to us we were pretty much next to it embarassing!! So we went inside the famous Macy's and after getting slightly lost ended up in madison garden square. after sorting our selfs out we went to see the New york public ibrary to see what all the fuss was about on the wasy lisa spotted a library which i was totally unimpressed with that was until we figured it was actually the huge library quite funny to be fair! especially as the real one was huge with great big lions out front and was unmistakably the New york library! after looking inside there for a while we went to St Patricks cathedral really amazing from the inside as everything else in new york it was also a massive building and really beautiful.
our next stop n our sightseeing route was Grand central station which was so much bigger then i expected and with all the marble really pretty. So after a day seeing alot of sights we headed back to brooklyn where we were going to go out for someones birthday drinks, we ended up at a bar called zombie hut which was very tiki hut inspired was really nice to see the contrast of brooklyn and manhatten though. started to meet some real american people hear...and they all love the accent even if i am from the midlands ha! Its hear that i saw my first fire flies they we tripping e out evertime they flashed bright green there quite odd. All in all my first impressions of New york were good and everything is 3x bigger than things in london they do like to super size!!
The following day we headed to coney island which is also know as little russia by the sea and Brighton beach. when we got there the board walk was massive but the beach was really nice and quite strange how you could get to such a beautiful beach within seconds of the city. The mermaid parade was on when we got there and it is the weirdest strangest parade ever some of the freaks definetley come out to play there there was one guy the mermaid king who dresses like it all year round has a multi coloured poodle and a real parrot on his head but it was so funny to see all the sights made it pretty good day, so after all the laughing at everyone we headed to a place called Tatiana's for some russian food i tried so many different things and actually decided russian food is quite good think my favourite however was sweet cheese dumplings! We also went on some rides at coney island fair something called the soaring eagle which was weird because you lay on your stomach and flew around like superman! fun though! later after filling our bellies we headed back to Prospect park where everyone was chilling having huge Bbq's and playing music we walked all round this huge park..saw some americans getting really excited about seeing swans! and in the process i got bite several times!! damn mosquitos!! but was a very nice start to new york and finally i was no longer jet lagged!
next we headed out to see some other sites that we hadnt seen the other day we saw many things and went across the brooklyn bridge which was amazing and had some fantastic views rally nice, then headed to battery park where we happened to bump into will smith shooting for the new men in black random i can tell you that but yes he is just a good looking in real life!! after the excitment of will we went to see times square at night which all i can say is bright and just as busy as the day, but we headed to a bar for a few drinks and got chatting to some locals who told us where to head out for the night so later on we headed off and was a start to another random night! we went to a bar which was $1 a drink and there we met some people who told us theyed show us around and of course buy our drinks so off we wnt to a cuban bar where i learnt i cannot salsa at all! but still had fun trying! next day w went to 106 and park recording so got to see terrance and rocsi and yes shes just as pretty as on tv too! but was intresting to see behind the scenes and im sure ill be on the BE channel at some point also met some girls from london too whilst there so had a good chilled out day with lots of music which i feel like i havent listened to in forever! and last day spent in New york we went to obvously see the statuer of liberty she is quite impressive but smehow still not as big as i thought she would be! we walked round tghe liberty island and i now know so many random facts about the staue that i could be a tour guide for her but overall had to be done after all she is the ymbol for USA. then aftr i wnt onto to Ellis island which tbh i didnt know what it was about but have since learned that was were immigrants had to pass through to b screened before being allowed to pass int the USA. A very factual day spend learning but still definetly would recommend!- comments
