We awoke early, it was warm and sunny, not even dew on the tent, breakfast outside, all dressed and up and away by 9.10, A 71/2 hour journey to Kathryn's according to 'the woman'.
Green leafy and lots of flowers round the lake, back past the very mosaicy Villa Crespi, and heading South we soon hit the plane, still very green lots of maize and vines. The autostrade was empty and the Alps could be seen from the North East behind us all the way down to the South. Round Turin and then climbing up the the pass and the tunnel, 57euros (!). And back into France ...it nearly felt like home.
Amazing to be driving just below Meribel and St Martin de BEllevue. Round to Grenoble, weirdly the sat nav took us through the middle, picnic later in hot sunshine and on South passing the crocodile farm we visited 4/5? Years ago Avignon and then headed west. The country side changed to be much more arid although still green and a wonderful warm wind.
As promised chatelnau appeared on a hill top we found the speed bumps winery and boulangerie as expected and drew up alongside a bar. Kathryn ran down from the old medieval archway!!
Kathryn's house was munch larger than I expected lovely and cool and clean and very French/almost arabic. We sat on the balcony with our drinks and then supper, an owl flew past ( but the bat stayed away)... Till very late.
