Tales from the other side of the plughole....
Hello!!!!!
Loads more to tell you so could be another long email! Sorry if you get bored reading, you can just skim read if you want! After my last email I went on a sailing trip round the Whitsunday Islands for 2 days and 2 nights which was awesome. My boat was called The Clipper and was the biggest boat available, it had 3 decks, containing sleeping area, bar/saloon area and sun deck with spa. I chose the boat as it was more of a cruiser and steadier than the others, you could go on proper sailing yachts but they rock from side to side and I didnt really fancy feeling sick! The weather wasnt brilliant when we set sail but I had taken sea sickness tablets so felt fine, a little unsteady but not sick! Their was 39 of us on the boat and 5 crew members and everyone was ace, lots of fun and included people from England, ireland, USA, Germany, Canada, Australia, Holland and Israel so it was a real mixed bunch which was great. We played lots of card games and drinking games during the trip, I had to jump around as a frog, pick up a cornflakes box with my teeth and down lots of drinks so was lots of fun in the evenings. Food was lovely and got my own cabin which was a nice changing after sharing with about 7 people every night since I got to Oz. On our full day sailing we went to Whitehaven Beach on one of the Islands and oh my god it is THE BEST beach I have ever been to. The sand was like icing sugar, so fine and white it felt like you were walking on sponge and it squeaked! The ocean looked turquoise and was so clear, you could see stingrays in it from the beach. When we arrived at the beach it was quite grey so me and a canadian girl called Julie made a Sun god in the Sand and literally 5 mins later the sun peeked through the clouds and the weather started to improve - was so spooky. We then sailed round a selection of the islands and saw a Shark in the water and loads of huge fish and turtles it was amazing. We then moored up for our second night and watched the sunset on the boat it was beautiful. On the last day I was woken up by one of the people on the boat shouting there's a hole on the boat, abandon ship!! I was like WHAT!! Went out to investigate and it was an irish jockey on the boat who hadnt been to bed and was still drinking goon (boxed wine) and was absolutely hammered and joking! Was so funny!
Got back to Airlie Beach and met up later with some of the people who had been on the boat and we went off to this resturant for some drinks and dinner to celebrate the trip. Was so funny because only about 9 of us turned up but we made the most of it and had a really good night and were out til 3am dancing to a live band in one of the Irish bars. Also one of the girls on the boat entered a jelly wrestling competion that night and would have won had she not been disqualified for biting her competitor!! Ha ha hilarious!!
Left Airlie Beach on Saturday after a brilliant week of sailing and drinking I am a proper pirate!! Headed inland on the Oz experience bus to an authentic Cattle Station called Kroombit. We were staying in log cabins and had our roast beef dinner cooked for us that night, it was soooo lush, the best bit of beef I think I have ever had. Then we were taught how to crack a whip, I mastered it in the end and got some pretty good cracking sounds from it, it was wicked! Then sat round the fire playing games and watched some of the people on the bus go on a mechanical bull, I didnt fancy it as it threw everyone off literally 1 second after it started up. Next day we got up and went mustering some goats on the farm, by that we had to round up loads of goats from this field on horseback, it was AWESOME! My horse was called Lady and I was pretty nervous about the whole thing but once I was on the horse and practiced the steering I relaxed and had so much fun. We managed to round up all the goats and then some of the people chased after the goats in the pen and milked them and pretended to brand them which was funny to watch. Oh my god goats can jump high! Then we had a go at clay pigeon shooting with a real shot gun. I was hoping I would shoot one and managed to shoot 3 out of 5 and the guy said I was the fastest shooter in Kroombit which I was pretty pleased with! It was such an adrenaline rush to shoot a gun, it proper rammed into your shoulder when you fired a shot though. We left the Cattle Farm after a lunch of Salad and Steak (the best steak I had ever eaten!) and headed to Hervey Bay.
So that it is where I am today in Hervey Bay which looks alot like Summer Bay from Home and Away! Just had a relaxing day today, hired a 4 person cycle cart thing and explored the esplanade which was so funny, I nearly ran over a dog he he! Then tomorrow I am off Whale Watching so hope I see some. Then I head down to Rainbow Beach, from there I will visit Fraser Island, the largest Sand Island in the world for 3 days 2 nights on a Self Guided camping trip which should be fun so I will write and let you know how it goes.
Thanks to everyone for their emails its so good to hear your news and just have contact. I do miss you guys, it would be so awesome if you were all here too.
Hope everone is looking forward to Guy Fawkes Night, we dont get it here so I will miss seeing the Fireworks and eating hotdogs! (Lindz, most of the sausages here are frankfurters you would not be impressed - Nick you would!!)
I gotta say it again but for anyone contemplating travelling, you HAVE to do it! I have done some of the best things in my life out here and will remember them for ever.
Its about 5:45pm so I am gonna go and have a shower and get some tea.
