Hi
Everyone,
Sorry this is a long blog entry and it might be a bit messy as it´s rushed but bare with me :).
So my very first stop in Spain was Barcelona! I arrived after being up pretty much all night because I had a very early flight from Frankfurt, but I arrived around 9am the sun was shining and all was looking good :)
After getting the metro and walking out of the station keen to get to my hostel I ended up getting lost in Barcelona for nearly 2 hours trying to find this stupid hostel, that wasn´t much fun haha. But finally found out and checked in. It took ahwile to settle and for my first time staying at a hostel by myself, it also didn´t help that I was the only person in my dorm who spoke english.
After checking in and what not, it was time to hit the city and explore. For the first few days I didn´t really ready any guidebooks or anything I pretty much just would walk the streets and see what i come across. Alot of the city felt like a giant maze with hundreds of litte ally ways that are lined with shops, restraunts and bars! Every ally way seemed to lead to something interesting. I also spent a bit of time on the famous La Rambla the main st of Barcelona. This was very interesting had the coolest buskers, mad little shops and pet stores on the street which was fair random. La Rambla was always packed with tourists and locals, night and day so it was the place to be if you wanna be amongs the crowd.
Barcelona is an amazing city and the architechue is insane every little side street seems to be filled with hundreds of little balconies and every bulding and house is different. Barcelona seems to have it all... including a very nice Beach ,). Beaches here in Spain are a little bit different to back to home.. one way to put is these Spanish beaches are alot more scenic. The beaches are also packed both in the day and into the night as well!
Another cool thing about Barcelona was how cheap alcohol is at supermarkets! I bought a whole bottle of vodka for $6 and it was good vodka at that. Cans of beer were only 80c and 1L of goon was $1 it was a boozers dream. It´s also funny how you could buy a bottle of vodka for cheaper than what you buy a pint of beer at the pub.
Now for the nightlife they talk this up a bit and it didn´t disapoint. I went out clubbing 2 nights on a Thursday and on a Sunday night! For my first night out I went to a club called Plataforma which was home to Barcelona´s biggest Drum n Bass & dupstep night! The Clubs are so relaxed with dress code and the bouncers dont check your ID´s its all very relaxed!
By the time Saturday Night came it meant Sonar Festival!! Which was the festival The Chemical Brothers were headlining :D I got to the venue about midnight, rite in time for when Dizze Rascal got onto the stage. He was good and literally got the crowd Bonkers. Next up was Caspa a Uk dupstep DJ and he had the maddest MC! He dropped the best 90 mins of dubstep Ive ever heard, the crowd got into it and it was perfect for rite before the Chemies! They didn´t start till 3am but their setup was insane and their visuals amazing! They played a smart set aswell. For the 1st hour they played just track from their new album then walked off and came back on 10 minutes later and dropped all their famous hits! They closed their epic set with Chemical Beats and I hope I can see these boys again Live! Nothing else compares to their live setup! It was 430am by the time the chemies had finished, but instead of going home i decided to check out the other stages they were still pumping with full crowds and I found some guy dancing a mixture of Mr Bean and Peter Garret which was too Funny! I ended up dancing at this stage till 7am, when the festival ended.. the Spanish are crazy and they sure know how to party! By the time I got back to they hostel they were serving Breakfest haha.
For my last night in Barcelona I went to a club close by called Nitsa which was host to the Din Mak Europe Tour. Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke were djing that night and it was so cheap to see 2 Massively known Dj´s. The club was packed and it had a huge soundsystem and again it was really casual with alot of guys wearing shorts and singlets. One thing that did get annoying was how many ppl smoked on the dancefloor and b****es were burning me with their fags as they walked by. I´ve never seen a circle pit in a nightclub. The spanish are mad! I left the club when it closed at 530 and went to sleep for 1 hour as I had to get up early to get my bus to Alicante.
Although I did get woken up by some German girl moaning in her sleep..
Overall Barcelona was a crazy city and everyone should go at least once, the only downside was I stayed in a dud hostel and next time I will stay in a Party Hostel!!
Photo´s and Videos will be added shortly
Until Next time

Adios!
