Hello!
Well getting here was hassle, we had a 24 hour bus journey where the Greyhound driver seems to think its acceptable to wake you every 2 hours and even tries to coax you off the bus at 3am to have somthing to eat!! Turns out the Greyhound also deliver the mail for the country so you stop every 5 minutes! It didnt help that the clutch was breaking on the bus and apparently the driver had to keep pumping it to get it to work!
We arrived at Alice Springs and found it was a bit of a walk to our hostel but made it ok. So much for thinking Youth Hostel Association would be nicer, it really isnt! Its not as bad as some though! Also turns out that Alice is quite nice, good shops, nice looking restaurants, much better than Darwin. It also seems a bit cooler Thank God! We even made it to the cinema, it semed quite popular, there were at least 5 people there!! I dont know where everyone goes at night but they seem to disappear!
Still many Aboriginals around so it doesnt smell any better but hey you cant have it all!! The worst thing about Alice is the Flies, there are so many that you end up walking down the street loking like your having a fit. They get in any available space, eyes, ears, nose and mouth!
We have spoken to a couple of people we have shared our dorm with and they have all said its been raining out at Ayres Rock, seems we are experiencing the wet season that everything is closed for!
While walking down the shopping district here who did we see but the Janitor from Darwin, luckily he didnt see us but its becomming a bit of a joke now that hes going to turn up everywhere!
