Hi :)
Well, we attempted to surf over the last couple of days! Steve did a pretty damn fine job! Yesterday, he got straight in there, and first time was stood on the board riding the waves. The waves today were a lot harder, they seemed to be dragging everyone in the sea sideways, but Steve had a better day today with a few good waves. I think it's given him a taste for when we get to Hawaii. I think he has visions of surfing a giant wave, like on the programme 'Riding Giants'!
I, on the other hand, am really bad at surfing. I tried yesterday with no success. I even struggled to stay on the board laying down, never mind putting a foot on it. So today, I decided to have a surf lesson. This was equally as bad, despite the fact that I had an instructor in the sea with me. I managed to get whacked on the head with the surfboard after unsuccessfully trying to stand on it, then getting wiped out by a wave. I have bruises on both knees, my elbows, the inside of my arms, my feet...all in all not great. I don't think I'll be a champion surfer anytime soon. The instructor felt that sorry for me he said I could have a free hour if I went back tomorrow.
We shall be heading to Banos (which litterally translates to 'toilet') either tomorrow or Thursday. (Steve and I just spent a while trying to figure out what day it was - we tend to lose sense of time) so we shall let you know what we are doing once we are there.
We are missing everyone back home, but super excited about all the flights that have been booked for people coming to visit us along the way :) Keep the emails and messages coming.
Love and hugs
Steve & Sam xxx
