Hi!!!
Hope everyone is well back home??
We spent 10 days in Colombia, 5 in Bogota (the Capital) and 5 in Cartagena (the Caribbean coast). The journey to Bogota was eventful...a 5 hour bus ride from Quito in Ecuador to Tulcan, a little town a few miles from the boarder. Then we took a taxi from Tulcan to the Ecuadorian boarder, got our passports stamped then walked over into Colombia, got our passports stamoed again, then got a taxi to Ipiales, a little town a few miles from the Colombian boarder. We then got a bus from Ipiales to Bogota which took 24 hours...PHEW!
When we first entered Bogota, we didn't feel entirely safe, but these fears quickly diminished as the police presence was everywhere, and the town was bustling and busy.
We managed to make our way to Zapaquira where there is a beautiful salt cathedral inside a huge salt mine. The pictures didn't turn out that well due to the light!
We then took another long bus ride to Cartagena, which is such a beautiful place. We stayed in the old town, full of narrow cobbled streets and old colonial buildings. It was very, very hot and humid, which wasn't good for my hair which decided to do a 'Monica'...IT'S THE HUMIDITY!
We bought some beautiful souvenirs whilst in Cartagena, which we are hoping to send back with Alex when we see her as we have no room in our luggage!!
We have flown to Fort Lauderdale today, with the aim of flying to Texas on Saturday, weather permitting!
Missing everyone lots.
Lots of love
Stevie & Sam xxx
