A pleasant bike over the tumbling hilltop beach front roads landed us in White Sand Beach, our intention was to get a visa run to BK organised for Myanmar. As luck would have it this was not possible and we left the beach knowing that our island fun was to be cut short by a necessary trip to BK, a Monday flight meant a Thursday departure #devastated. Not to be deterred we ploughed onwards to long beach, a journey of some effort we took the bikes very off-road and even encountered rickety wooden planks across vast land slides! The beach was awful but the view was spectacular, not deterred we headed to the fishing villages on the far side of the island, the village was shabby and abandoned and the loss of £200 quid and a bank card on Emily's part was the icing on an increasingly s*** cake. And so we crack on the plan was to go somewhat off-road and attempt to cut thought the jungle path back to Lonely Beach. 5km in, the road was washed away and 3 near crashes saw the introduction of some pretty nasty cuts on Martins foot and a slightly scratched bike for Emily. It couldn't get worse, smiling through gritted teeth we headed back on ourselves knowing a night ride of 25km or so back around the island was in front of us. Well a conservative 50km/hr was not enough to stop the entire insect population of the Island pebble dashing our faces, snorkelling googles intended for the wonderful beaches we would encounter got their first use of the day! We did however make it back to white sand beach in time to hobble to the beach and thoroughly enjoy a lantern lit barbecue laughing at the end of our misfortune it was our top meal to date. All that was needed now was a short bike ride through the hills and we were home for a nights sleep and a full stop on a hell of a day. Well if you have ever tried driving a moped up a 300 metre 60% slope head first into a tropical thunderstorm with a back tire as bald as a babies arse I'd advise against it! It took 3 very nerve racking tail slides to see us walking our bikes very gingerly onwards. A day worth saying goodbye too, the only salvation was a mid night dip in the bath warm sea with a thunderstorm for company! We slept well that night dreaming of a better future.
A 9am dip in the Gulf of Thailand and we were fresh to face a new day. After a lazy beach day we were in the mood for a party and a lengthy skype call to Australia put us in the party mood, off to Ting Tong we went for a taste of Ibiza in Asia. A dull party saw us up on our own on the dance floor cutting serious shapes, a dozen "buckets" between us and we had the whole place up with us before rather embarrassingly having to cut our own night short due to our over exuberance on the local tipple! We like to think we left as legends, arrive late, turn the place upside down and leave early, ROCKSTARS!!
A bus the next day saw us wave goodbye to Koh Chang and hello to BK we had a weekend to fill and BK was not the answer we were looking for. Decisions decisions...
