Booked tour of the Capital Building to start the day. No Presidents sighting today, but blue skies and icy cold. Public holiday here today - Dr Martin Luther King Day.
The tour was good and took us through some impressive areas. some of the models and interactive things were good. after the tour we wandered along the Mall to our first museum of the day - the Newseum. All based around News and events that shaped the world - 6 floors of exhibits and interactive things. There was an excellent area on 9/11 (Including things like the actual motors from the crashed planes!) ans some amazing footage. All the stories are told from the reporters persepctive. I figured we'd do a couple of hours there, but when they closed the place at 5:30 we were stil there - looking at Pulitzer Prize photos as it turns out. Excellent museum. Great experience.
We wandered town for some food supplies, then bussed back home. Earliest night home in weeks and we all just zapped our own 'healthy choice' meal. sick of eating out! Watched some TV, Yvonne did some washing, then bed. Still sick. Girls still OK.
Interesting observation on our journey home - in the city, as we pulled up to a stop, a woman had just stopped running as she'd missed the bus in front of us - Driver - 'Was that your bus?'. Woman - "Yes. I tried!". Driver - Don't worry - hop on'. He flashed the other driver and caught up at the next stop. He even boxed the other bus in so he couldn't miss his intention. Happen in Perth? Not in a million years! A pleasant bus driver who went out of his way to help someone? I'd like to see that!
