Another early start and the big man kicks off the last leg of section one as he races between Mayfield and Geraldine to complete the first 100 miles of TMP... its another fantastic morning with the sun splitting the sky... Dave sets off from Ashburton for the last time and is cheered off by the Pompom Club (Al, Mike, Gill, Eric and Andrea)..... who have yet to agree on their best dance and decide to go freestyle for the third morning in a row which at least amused the neighbours!!!
Early into the day Dave sets a new TMP record by reaching 24.4 MPH on the first real downhill stretch of the entire route, followed by another first as he cracks a smile at the bottom of the hill!!!.. by this time every car going in the opposite direction is pulling over in case he starts a speed wobble however the smile soon disappears as Dave sees the biggest climb of the tour in front of him...a good 2kms of uphill... so its back to Mr Grumpy pants!!!
On route to Geraldine we pass the biggest bull in NZ who shows an interest in the red shirts running past his field so he's quickly offered a key ring and a baseball hat as we scuttle past..... A great following includes the Wilson family from the area who stop for a photo shoot with Dave (another 7 key rings find a new home!!) before leaving the big fellow to break the red tape into Geraldine in an impressive 4 hours having completed 102.6 miles and the first leg of TMP
After another celebratory coffee we pack up the cars and head down south to Lake Tekapo for the next three days and a well earned day off for Dave and the crew..... we head into town for pizza and a beer and celebrate Mikes birthday before hitting the hay at the end of another milestone for TMP..
Lots of thanks to Tony and Andrea for their support as they fly back north to Auckland (but may be back next weekend!!) and to Heather and Evan from the Bella Vista Motel for their fantastic hospitality.....
Thanks to all the support on the blog and keep spreading the word about TMP. Eric

Aunt Betty / Uncle Sid HQ High Spen reporting in 2128GMT 12/ 04/ 2010 Pleased to report two cats in attendance, no breakages, no spillages, no intruders, one lockout (resolved), no misdemeanours, no miscellaneous deeds. One anomalous occurrance. Feline Sid displays an unrepentant enthusiasm for top shelf whisky; favoured over and above the usual filtered water. Of further concern is Sid's penchant for the 12 to18 (incl) year old vintages. Volumes are receding at an alarming rate. In view of the need for harmony and non-confrontation with the locals, the establishment have overlooked this flight of fancy. Please advise if views differ, with preference for a tougher stance. Over and out, Roger....
Graham Campbell Jesus Millar! You not finished yet get moving you slacker!!
Penny Ward NHIT David, Well done for reaching 100 mile mark. From all at Head Injuries.
