Mr. Gill: So here we are...Gary has done his best to pump up this trip, and so far it hasn't disappointed!! Before we even got on the flight, a fair amount of alcohol was consumed, mainly based around good old Jameson...so much so that we nearly bought a £200 bottle! I calmed Gary down, and we agreed on a normal priced bottle to kick off the holiday. The flight to Hong Kong was bloody long, just under 12 hours! We were well entertained though, and the spare seat between us allowed for some alone time (as Gary was already doing my head in!!). Hopped off the plane into a cab to Kowloon, where we checked into the Ramada. Decent hotel for the first 2 nights, room was a bit dark and grubby though. So whilst we freshened up, we started on this Jameson bottle. Headed out to explore the city. Found a cheap little restaurant a few blocks down, where we tucked into some noodles and soup. I ordered beef to go with this...little did I know this consisted of 85% beef fat! Not nice..
Wednesdays didn't seem to be the busiest in Hong Kong, so it was no surprise when we Found a bar that was empty. They tempted us in with HUGE Hoegaarden jugs and football on the TV. Got told to go to a place called Why Bar...but when we got there, the bouncer basically said there was no one inside and we'd be wasting our time! Possibly the nicest bouncer ever? So we headed to a bar across the road, ordered a bucket of 6 beers and watched some footy. We were "taught" how to play a weird game involving 5 dice and a cup. We had no idea what was going on, but just agreed with the local dude to avoid getting shot! Moved to bar no. 3, Hoegaarden number I don't know, and watched the most BORING United game ever! Met a dude called Jackson, who was the biggest blagger ever!! He told us stories of his girlfriend in Nottingham, how he's a big player in Hong Kong and how he can get us into the best clubs! All we had to do is buy him drinks...yea, ok mate! We left the fool behind and headed back to the hotel, which resulted in an epic 13 hour sleep and day 2 ruined!!
Waking up at 6pm was not ideal, and meant we'd still only seen Hong Kong in the dark!! Decided to make the most of the evening (whilst getting our James on) and headed out. Grabbed some food at a restaurant near the harbour. We both agreed on ordering some spicy chicken dish, only to find out after that it was an appetiser served COLD! Disappointing. Headed across to central HK for some beers, and Gary managed to attract the attention of South Africa's answer to Gok Wan!! The guy really liked Gary...sadly the feeling wasn't mutual, much to my amusement!! Pictures will follow (sorry Gary). We moved onto a club (without Gok) which was a bit of a laugh, made moves back to the hotel, only to be tempted by a McDonalds breakfast at 4am. So good!!
We left HK early afternoon, and have now arrived in Hanoi. Gary is sleeping, so I'm going up to slap him and grab some food. The next installment begins...
