The final entry...
Well ladies and gents, boys and girls, that's the show very nearly over for us traveling pair - and very sad we are too that our journey is ending - although I guess a new one is about to begin so onwards we go.
Today is Friday (and I did have to consult the diary for that one as I seem to have lost any ability to tell the time or day as we are on 'bali time') and we have 2 days left in Legian in the south of Bali. Our flight back to London is on Sunday evening so we are just going to chill for the next few days and soak up the last of the sun (boo hoo).
Since our last entry we have been pretty busy and explored the areas of Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and a small up and coming surf spot called Canggu. Its very different in this part of the island to the rest of Bali, its pretty much tourist capital and party, party, party. But, as soon as you leave the main tourist area it turns into small roads and pretty villages with the odd stray dog sunbathing in the middle of the road and local people living simple lives. We have hired scooters most days which is a great way to see the different parts of Bali. Its a pretty mad and hectic experience navigating and driving around but most entertaining as there seem to be no road rules apart from avoiding hitting each other. Cars and motorbikes, scooters and push bikes, horse drawn carts and road works all over the place, coming at you from all directions, turning on red lights and going the wrong way up 1 way streets! Its mental! We will try and put some video up which I managed to take whilst on the back of Wayne's scooter.
We have met some great people too - and had far too much to drink some nights but also a crackin' laugh. We met a couple of Aussie lads (you don't act your age Murray and Kim, and that's a compliment ;-)) who proceeded to pommie bash for a whole week - but hey, we love it really and I reckon we gave as good as we got?! Had a ball with these guys and had a few late nights with it. We went to a 'drag' show one night which was so funny. There were about 8 lady boys all dressed and made up, singing and dancing. Most of them had amazing legs and bums!! But when they got a little closer it was a bit scary - especially for Wayne as a few of them took a shine to him! I still reckon the Aussie boys paid them to sit on his lap! He was so embarrassed poor boy - much to everyones amusement! Cringe tastic - have to find some pics of that too ;-)
They took us out jet skiing which was awesome! Loads easier than it looks and you really pick up some speed. We also did the big yellow banana boat - where you all sit on a big inflatable banana thing with just handles to hold on to and are pulled along by a boat. It basically involves falling off everytime you take a corner too sharp and everyone goes flying off into the water! The funniest thing is trying to haul yourself back on which is really tough and laughing at each other doesn't help - bunch of idiots!
We have also done some surfing and a bit of shopping for cheap dvds (I think Bali is more famous for this than anything) which cost 10,000 IR each - about 65p! Surfing has been a bit of a mixed bag, we had a couple of really good days but have had to avoid the ocean the last couple as there have been loads of dead fish washed up - nice! Wayne went in one day and was a little poorly that arvo, say no more ;-( There's no way I'm getting in that - you know me and my allergies.
So that's about it kids, I hope you have had a good laugh at some of our experiences and hope we haven't bored you too much ;-) Looking forward to seeing all you Poms soon and as for you Aussies, you know you don't escape that easily, keep in touch and as Arnie says, 'We'll be back'.
Signing out, over and out...
