Thursday we left Rockhampton and drove to the coastal towns of Yeppon and Emu Park aroubc the scenic drive. There seemed to be a lot more going on there than in Rockhampton but i suppose we wouldn't have seen the bull riders.
We then travelled south to Gladstone, another industrial town 30km from the Bruce Highway, we had it on good authority that there wasn't much in Gladstone so we just had a drive round, some and lunch and stocked up on essentials and drove on to Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.
Formally known as Round Hill, Seventy Seventy is the point at which Captain Cook made land, for the 2nd time in Australia, and is known as the birthplace of Queensland. We also had a walk around Joseph Banks Conservation Park, Banks was the botanist on board the Endeavour and came ashore to collect plant species, something very much frowned upon these days! Seventeen Seventy is only very small but being in a place with such history was worth the drive.
We left Seventeen Seventy this morning and headed to Bundaberg. A town famous for sugar cane and rum. We're staying in the seaside town of Bargarra and plan to head to the Bundaberg Rum distillery tomorrow before driving to Harvey Bay.
