Cam's Great Escapade
Hey all, its my second day in Bali and so far it seems alright, not sure if the beaches live up to their hype, they seem pretty average to me. Mind you i havnt surfed in them yet, but ive been watching the surfers carefully and i think ive mastered it so i might hire a board tomorrow, it looks so easy. Well anyway they are better than weston-super-mare and thats good enough for me, although in weston you dont get old ladies grabbing at you and trying to peruade you into a massage, at least not in my experience. The locals can be a little bit of a pain, theyve even roped their kids into selling you crap. This little boy followed me around for ages trying to get me to buy bracelets and in the end i gave him a handfull of m and m's which he seemed pretty pleased about and scarpered. Anyway im going to try and get away from it all and escape to Ubud which is the centre of art and crafts. I wish everyone in the world was Buddhist, they are extremely friendly but also deeply respectful and polite which is why Thailand was so lovely. Although the Hindu locals here arnt all that polite they are really friendly, perhaps a bit too friendly. Being a girl alone is more annoying than I thought as I've been called honey/sweetheart/darling more times today than I care to remember which gets irritating quickly, Its like a whole city of wolfwhistling builders. Anyway I'm off to check out the nightlife so wish me luck, its my first venture out after dark so if you dont hear from me for a while start worrying.
lots of love camilla
