We arrived in Koh Chang with high expectations as it is part of a reserve park. Once we were dropped off at Lonely Beach we were met with a dirt road down to our bungalow. We quickly dumped our back packs off in to our neat, little shack and went in search of the beach. After a confused walk down a gravel road and a balancing act over a wooden walk way we reached the beach. It wasn't exactly what I expected, I mean don't get me wrong it was no Skegness, but it was not as clean as I expected and the water was not as clear as I thought it might have been. Ah well we both thought at least it was a beach and it seemed really chilled out or so we thought. At night the beach was a banging night club with drunken Europeans staggering about. We decided to get mopeds out to explore the island in the day time and after a rocky start, where Marcus ploughed in to a french man and a bailed before hitting a tree, we sped off! We managed to reach a lovely little beach that was very quiet and beautiful. The sea was clear and the sand was clean, which was exactly what we wanted. We then decided to move on and after much confusion we realised that the island's costal road had not been finished (and in fact it would seem they had no intension of finishing it). We came to a "dead end" and the only way to get further and see the other side would be to go back all the way round the other side. So after going back to the beach we had discovered we decided to sit around and not bother to go any further. Partly because we were being lazy and partly, because the roads were steep and dangerous.
On our last night on Koh Chang we went out for the evening for a free BBQ and some live music at a local bar which was fantastic. We met a lovely German couple who took us to a pretty cool bar that we didn't know existed. We then decided to have an early night as we had a 6am start to travel to Cambodia, woohoo!!!
