Having explored the wonders of Borneo, it was time to make a move to Thailand, get some proper food and move away from the monsoon's of the south.
Arriving in Bangkok filled us both with joy. We were so excited to finally be in Thailand, even if we had to queue for ages to make our way through immigration.
Having heard so much about it I was so keen to explore Khao San Road that we got ourselves a hotel actually on it. As it turns out... the Sawasdee Bangkok Inn Hotel was really decent and quiet given it's location.
We spared no time in getting ourselves out onto the strip. The road is an amazing hive of activity filled with glorious smelling food stalls, a million and one Tuk Tuks and stalls filled with amazing goodies. I challenge anyone to walk down the Khao San Road and not spot something they just have to have.
After a couple of days of shopping and gorging ourselves on Pad Tai from the street vendors, we decided it was time to take in some culture. Being so close, we made our way to the Grand Palace which was a mind blowing experience for me. The grandeur and ornateness of the buildings was staggering, with every colour in existence on display and used to great effect. The temples too were beautiful and the devotedness of the locals was hugely intoxicating and that made the experience all the more spiritual and moving.
I really loved Bangkok and we have but scratched the surface. With all roads leading to Bangkok I look forward to exploring the city more, but after a few days of the fast-paced hecticness, we just dreamt of taking in a beach and aimed our sights on the nearest island (and Thailand's second largest)... Koh Chang!!!
